# Is your CMS keeping you hostage?

As senior leaders, we rely on our websites to be the face of our company, yet making simple updates can feel like navigating a bureaucracy. I recently demonstrated how quick and easy website editing should be and the reaction I got from the team was telling.

I highlighted some text on a live web page and asked them a simple question: "If you wanted to change that on your current website, what would you have to do?"

I watched the anxiety fall over the entire team. Their answer painted a familiar, frustrating picture of complexity:

-   They would have to find the right person in the development company they were paying.
    
-   They would need to contact them and send a formal change request.
    
-   The request would need to be approved with a budget.
    

All of that just to change a typo! This is a huge, unnecessary drain on time and resources. For a leadership team, every unnecessary step is a delay in communication and a waste of budget. You shouldn't need a complex budget approval just to fix a spelling mistake.
